Introduction

Hello friends, I’m Dara, principal designer and founder of Dara Charlton Design. I began the business in 2013 following the realization many structures in my current city and others were being built without vision or a sense of identity. Designs were being carbon copied from one city and used in another with a completely different culture, climate, and needs. Historic buildings were being “renovated” by being stripped of their character. All this is unfortunate from a design sense, yes, but it also means those projects and businesses will ultimately fail because they don’t connect with their end users or meet that market’s unique needs.

Appropriate design is essential to not only the urban infrastructure, but to the economy of the city, the surrounding areas, and the state as a whole, so my colleagues and I provide business owners, landlords, and developers renovated or newly built environments that have immediate impact on the community, as well as long term success.

In construction, architecture, and design the spaces we create may be here for a century or even more; it’s our responsibility to visually communicate or compliment each city’s unique identity through it’s structures and do so in a functional, timeless manner so they age well and in the future resources don’t need to be tapped as frequently for demolition and new construction materials, instead, generations to come can continue to use and appreciate the structures we create with due diligence now.

For commercial and residential design, we begin with comprehensive project vision, continue into design and construction, and finish with furniture and artwork installation.
